When I was in my 20′s, having been single with no financial responsibilities, I used to spend every single peso I earned. Fortunately I had a freind who convinced me to start setting aside money for the future and realizing that I had been squandering money I had been earning for many years, I started investing in mutual funds. I also purchased an insurance policy even when I was single thinking the least I could do to repay my parents for all their hard work on me was to ensure that if anything happened to me, I had my insurance to pay for my final expenses. That was 8 years ago. Today, I am so happy I did all those because now that I have a family of my own, I have an insurance that can look after my daughetr in case anything happens to me. Plus because of my regular investing, I have saved up an amount that gives me security and confidence that I have money to use should the need arise, i.e. child’s education, unexpected medical bills, travel etc. All it really takes is the discipline to start and the commitment to do it regularly. I urge everyone to start investing and securing their future now. . The rewards of doing it are peace of mind, secruity and e sense of freedom.
