5 years ago, I made a list of things I want to do before I reach age 30. I wanted my family to have our own house, I want to bring my parents to a vacation and I want to study again.

Fast forward to last year, November 8, 2008… My 29th birthday was also the day my 21 month-old son passed away.

All of a sudden my life stopped. I was this clown who would put on a happy face for everyone but is so broken deep inside.

This year, I am slowly motivating myself to start again with my list:

>Last June, I managed to pay for my parents’ airfare when we went to Hong Kong.

>I make extra income for direct-selling opportunities. I use some of my savings as my “revolving fund” and get it back after a month. The discount I get earns more than your usual savings account.

>Before the year ends, I will invest part of my income in Mutual Funds and a monthly salary deduction will go straight to it. That money may be used for my daughter’s tuition; as a reservation fee for a house that I’ll have in a few years (I hope); or for my own tuition when I study again…

I’m still far from the financially independent person you know. (own house, own car, etc.). I also have bills to pay, loan deductions, etc. I’m 2just a simple person with simple dreams for me and my family… Just like you… And there is no better time to start reaching for those dreams than now.

Quoting Oliver Wendell Holmes, “Many people die with their music still in them. Too often it is because they are always getting ready to live. Before they knew it, time runs out.”
