With resignation, this was all Pia Arroyo-Magalona managed to tell showbiz buddies, Vic Sotto and Michael V. of Eat Bulaga. With these words, she hoped to prepare Eat Bulaga viewers for the inevitable passing of well-loved Filipino rapper, Francis Durango Magalona.
At noon of March 6, 2009, Francis M. succumbed to the most deadly strain of AML (acute myelogenous leukemia) after 7 difficult and painful months of bravely coping with this disease of the blood.
Pia recalled she neither had tears nor a quivering voice to break the word to them; just a cryptic, deep and composed voice saying, “It’s time (for him to go).” Perhaps, it was the manager within Pia that took over, making sure that her family was coping all right, that the public viewing of Francis M. would be in order, and that she could share comfort and grief with the many people who like her, loved Francis M. dearly……
