Lately, I’ve looking back on my life, my accomplishments and what’s yet to achieve. I’ve been pondering on a few things that I do think I have to do before I reach 30. Some needs long term planning and execution while most of them were short term. Yes, I’m a dreamer myself and I do want to do a lot of things in my life.

In my aspiration to do a lot of things, I tend to overlook stuff — most of the time my health. There was one time that in an effort to complete [before deadline, of course] photography projects, website development projects as well as a catering job, I was told by the doctor to stay at home and rest due to overfatigue. It was a moment of realizing that I had gone too far.

As if that was not enough, I had to buy a lot of medicines to help me recuperate.

More than losing the income on those days, not just from my day job but from all my projects, it was the feeling of not being able to do what I had to that shook me.

I need to be prepared and I gotta start right away. From now on, I want to be empowered so I’m signing up to be an advocate.

    HI Karen,
I can empathize with you. I,too, am a workaholic.
In 2003, i had a profuse bleeding for 10 days. At that time, I just joined Sun Life and was so zealous in calling my clients and spread the gospel of financial freedom as well as their duty take care of their families beyond their lifetime.
My sister nudged me and said, “Go to the doctor and have yourself checked. You might go ahead of your clients and leave them orphaned.”
I followed her advice and went to see my doctor. She had my blood checked and her face turned white when she found out that my hemglobin count was only 7 (normal was 14) which was almost fatal.
I could have collapsed anytime and bid life goodbye.

I had 2 bags of blood transfusion that night and underwent D&C the next day. Nurses told me that I did not look like I was sick, I told them “I use Dove. joke joke joke. But when I got my bill the next day, I almost FAINTED! “It was almost 55 thousand for a day of confinement.”
I thank Sun Life for helping me defray the cost.

Lesson: TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH. IT iS YOUR GREATEST WEALTH.

And yes, would be happy to share you how Sun Life can help you achieve financial freedom.
